Gavin Ploger

Gavin Ploger is the Howard R. Marsh Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Communication and Media at the University of Michigan. He studies political communication, political psychology, and public opinion in the United States, especially as they relate to polarization, partisanship, democracy, and news representations of politics.Â
Gavin received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2023. His dissertation research explored how news media lead people to think of politics as inherently polarized. Prior to his current position, Gavin was a postdoctoral fellow in the Polarization Research Lab, a joint research group organized by scholars from Dartmouth College, Stanford University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
