Cassie Hemphill

PhD, CP3

Founder and Chief Learning Officer

Cassie Hemphill, Ph.D., CP3, CM, has spent 30 years helping people work productively across difference—especially when the issues are complex and the stakes are high. A certified mediator and facilitator, and a licensed public engagement trainer, she supports individuals and teams in navigating complexity, diverse perspectives, and uncertainty—helping them stay engaged and make thoughtful progress even when the path forward is not clear.

In her role as Chief Learning Officer of Confluence Training, LLC, Cassie works with practitioners around the world through training, facilitation, mentoring, and coaching to build the skills and confidence needed for respectful, responsive public interactions. Her work is grounded in intentional design and adult learning principles, and blends practical tools, hands-on experience, and reflective practice—supporting professionals not just in what they do, but in how they show up before, during, and after the work.

Cassie has contributed to the field of public engagement since 2003 through both practice and leadership. She brings extensive experience facilitating learning in both in-person and virtual environments. Her work with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) has included helping to create and manage the U.S. professional certification program, serving on national and regional boards, and co-authoring course revisions for IAP2’s Global Certificate of Engagement.
